Sindh Government Announces Petrol Relief for Motorbike Owners and Public Transport Users

KARACHI โ€“ Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced a Petrol Relief scheme for registered motorbike owners and public transport commuters. The subsidy aims to help citizens cope with rising fuel costs.

Under the program, a Rs2,000 petrol subsidy will be provided to every motorbike registered in the ownerโ€™s name. The amount will be transferred after verification through the Sindh Excise Departmentโ€™s official app. Motorbike transfers have been made free of cost to ensure eligibility for the Petrol Relief.

The chief minister advised owners who purchased vehicles from someone else to transfer the bike to their name. Transfer offices will remain open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 midnight, including Saturdays and Sundays, to facilitate the process.

In addition to motorbikes, Petrol Relief will extend to public transport. The government will cover the increased cost of diesel, ensuring that fares for buses, minibuses, coasters, and vans remain unchanged. Transporters have been offered compensation packages to freeze fare hikes, benefiting commuters across Sindh.

Murad Ali Shah stated that while it was simpler to provide relief only through government transport, extending the subsidy to all public vehicles would be more effective in supporting daily travelers. Officials will coordinate with the federal government to implement the scheme efficiently.

The chief minister also noted that consultations with traders are ongoing regarding market timings and closures, reflecting the provinceโ€™s economic situation. Meanwhile, public transport users can continue paying fares set as of February 28 without fear of increases.

This Petrol Relief initiative is part of broader efforts to ease the financial burden on Sindh residents amid rising fuel prices. Authorities urge eligible motorbike owners to complete registration and transfer formalities to receive their subsidy on time.
