The recent deaths attributed to Congo fever in Karachi have led Sindh’s provincial health authorities to implement strict measures.

Concerned officials have been directed to closely monitor individuals moving between Balochistan and Sindh. So far, three individuals from Balochistan have died in Karachi due to Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), with others undergoing treatment.

The Balochistan health department has expressed concern over 20 CCHF-related deaths in the province this year. Health experts worry about the disease spreading in parts of Sindh, especially with infected individuals admitted to provincial hospitals and regular livestock transport that could increase the risk. Sindh’s caretaker Chief Minister has instructed health authorities to enhance surveillance, particularly in bordering districts adjoining Balochistan.

The provincial health department has issued an alert to district health officers, and hospitals have been ordered to establish isolation units.
