The Sindh Police have finalized a detailed security plan for Youm-e-Ali (RA) on 21st Ramadan in Karachi.
According to the Additional Inspector General, the security plan will ensure foolproof arrangements for the central procession. A total of 5,213 police personnel will be deployed across the city. This includes 19 SSPs, SPs, 53 DSPs, and 4,244 other staff members.
The security plan incorporates snap checks, CCTV monitoring, and snipers stationed on tall buildings. Quick response teams will remain alert to handle any emergencies during the event. Police officers have also been assigned to key hospitals to maintain safety and order.
Karachi Police Chief has instructed all personnel to enforce law and order throughout the procession. The aim is to provide a secure environment for participants and the general public attending the religious gatherings.
In addition, the Sindh government has announced a public holiday for all educational institutions on March 11, Wednesday, in observance of Youm-e-Ali. This includes both public and private schools and colleges, as per the official notification issued by the School Education and Literacy Department.
The decision for the holiday was approved after recommendations from the Steering Committeeโs Sub-Committee meeting held on February 12, 2026. Authorities said the measure will allow students and families to participate safely in the dayโs religious activities.
Youm-e-Ali is observed annually on the 21st of Ramadan. Thousands of people attend processions and gatherings across Pakistan to honor the life and sacrifices of Hazrat Ali (RA). The heightened security arrangements reflect the importance of maintaining public safety during such large-scale religious events.
Officials emphasized that the security plan is designed to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure that participants can observe the occasion peacefully. Police urge the public to cooperate with law enforcement to facilitate smooth movement and effective crowd management.
