Karachi, January 8, 2026 โ The Sindh Police have announced a major intel-based operation to target bandit gangs in the katcha areas of Kashmore and Ghotki districts. The move comes amid rising concerns over criminal activities in the region.
Inspector General of Sindh Police, Javed Alam Odho, said authorities may also seek support from the Punjab Police for the operation. โWe will try to resolve permanently the issue of the bandit gangs in the katcha area,โ he added.
The IG emphasized that bandits who choose to surrender will be allowed to live and may seek legal relief through the courts. โSurrendering outlaws will also receive cash in exchange for their weapons,โ he said. However, he warned that those refusing to surrender would face stern action.
Sindh Police recently conducted a successful operation to rescue passengers of a bus kidnapped by a gang. The police recovered all hostages and eliminated the criminals responsible for the crime, demonstrating the effectiveness of intelligence-led actions.
Home Minister Zia Lanjar said on Wednesday that a major campaign against notorious dacoits is underway, with no criminals expected to escape. He confirmed that those willing to lay down arms would be allowed to surrender safely.
The Home Minister also noted that IG Sindh has been directed to coordinate with IG Punjab and the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bahawalpur. Sindh Police have previously worked jointly with Punjab authorities in anti-criminal operations, enhancing the success of intelligence-led initiatives.
Officials are confident that the ongoing intel-based operation will dismantle the bandit networks in the province. Facilitators and accomplices of the gangs are also being targeted to prevent future crimes.
This combined effort reflects a focused strategy by Sindh authorities to ensure lasting peace and security in the region. Law enforcement sources say the intel-based operation will continue until all criminal elements are neutralized.
