A family in Korangi’s slum area attacked an anti-polio team when they insisted on administering the polio vaccine to children. The incident led to the arrest of six people, including four women, who were taken to the Korangi police station.
SSP Korangi Kamran Khan reported that the anti-polio workers, accompanied by two policemen, were performing their duty when the family refused to allow the vaccine. The situation escalated into a violent confrontation with the family assaulting the team with shovels, slapping policemen, tearing their clothes, and stealing their mobile phones.

When the police arrived, the family responded with increased aggression, throwing stones at the officers. The police managed to control the situation and arrested four women and two young boys. Those arrested include Samina, Meha Jabeen, Amna, Iqra, Gul Imran Momin, and Sufyan Shahnawaz, and a case is being filed against them.
The anti-polio team, including Rabia, Saba, Dr. Khalid, Police Constable Israr, Jahangir, Tawfiq, and Lady Police Constable Aniza Naz, were attacked, with Aniza Naz also injured.
Sindh’s Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah condemned the assault, urging immediate action against the culprits. He emphasized that violence against polio workers would not be tolerated and directed a thorough investigation, ensuring the injured workers and police received medical care.
