JACOBABAD โ Six police officers, including an assistant sub-inspector, have been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a girl at a police station in Jacobabad.
The case came to light after Jacobabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohammad Kaleem Malik launched an inquiry following a video message from the victim. Officials said the preliminary medical report supported the girlโs claim, indicating she had been gang-raped.
Victim Detained During Murder Investigation
According to police, the girl, her sister, and grandmother were detained at RD-52 police station in Taluka Thul as part of a murder investigation. They were reportedly held for several days before the assault occurred.
The SSP said the investigation, conducted under instructions from the Inspector General of Police, found that six policemen had assaulted the girl while she was in custody. The incident allegedly took place in the absence of the station house officer.
Medical Examination and DNA Testing
The girl was transferred to Thul Taluka Hospital, where a medico-legal officer examined her. Samples were collected and sent for DNA analysis to support the investigation.
Following the findings, all six officers were suspended and immediately arrested. An FIR was filed on the complaint of the victimโs grandmother.
Charges and Legal Action
The FIR includes charges under Sections 375-A (rape), 344 (wrongful confinement for over 10 days), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Authorities have pledged a thorough investigation and assured that justice will be served.
