Sohail Afridi Outlines Governance Reforms In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi chaired a provincial cabinet meeting on Friday, unveiling key initiatives focused on governance, transparency, and peace.

CM Sohail Afridi began by thanking political parties that participated in the peace jirga held a day earlier. He emphasized, โ€œPeace is our common goal, even if political differences remain.โ€

He assured that all resolutions passed by the provincial assembly would be fully implemented. One critical resolution highlighted by Sohail Afridi is the abolition of the Action in Aid of Civil Powers law, which he described as violating basic human rights.

In a major announcement, Sohail Afridi revealed the formation of an inquiry commission to investigate the May 9 attack on Radio Pakistan. The commission will collect evidence, including CCTV footage, and report its findings to the cabinet.

The chief minister also shared plans to create an interest-free Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sohail Afridi stated that the government is formulating policies to eliminate usury and implement Islamic financial and investment systems to encourage ethical economic growth.

Sohail Afridi further noted the provincial assemblyโ€™s unanimous resolution expressing concern over the alleged mistreatment of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife in jail. Afridi said he intends to meet Imran Khan personally for policy guidance.

The chief minister stressed that all reforms and decisions will involve consultation with elected representatives. Sohail Afridi directed cabinet members to avoid personal publicity using government funds and ensure merit-based, fully transparent decision-making.

He also instructed a comprehensive review of provincial laws to identify gaps and recommend necessary amendments. Sohail Afridiโ€™s announcements signal a proactive approach to governance, with a focus on legal reform, financial ethics, and public accountability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
