Spain Opens Doors: Digital Nomad Visa for Pakistanis at Just Rs21,500

Spain has officially launched its Digital Nomad Visa, offering new opportunities for remote workers worldwide, including professionals from Pakistan. The visa costs around Rs21,500 and allows non-European nationals to live and work in Spain for one year, with the option to extend up to five years.

The initiative, introduced under Spain’s Startup Act, aims to strengthen the country’s digital economy by attracting global talent. The Digital Nomad Visa is designed for freelancers, startup owners, and employees of foreign companies who can work remotely. It also allows applicants to bring their family members, making it a practical relocation option.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet several conditions to qualify for the Digital Nomad Visa. They need to show proof of remote work for at least three months with their current employer or clients. At least 80 percent of their income must come from outside Spain, and their employer or company must have been operating for more than a year.

Key requirements include:

  • A valid passport (minimum 12 months validity)
  • Proof of remote work (employment letter, freelance contracts, or business ownership)
  • Minimum monthly income of €2,762 (approx. PKR 856,000)
  • University degree, diploma, or three years of relevant work experience
  • International health insurance
  • Clean criminal background check

For couples, the required monthly income rises to €3,797 (approx. PKR 1,177,000), plus €346 (approx. PKR 107,000) for each dependent child.

Application Process

Applicants can apply from Pakistan or while staying in Spain on a tourist visa. Required documents include proof of income, tax returns, business registration, criminal background clearance, and relationship certificates for dependents. Some documents may need to be apostilled and translated into Spanish.

This new visa gives Pakistani remote professionals an affordable chance to live and work in Europe, while also supporting Spain’s growing digital sector.
