Early on Wednesday morning, speeding car crashes occurred near Manyar Masjid when a vehicle veered off the road and rammed into nearby shops. The incident injured shopkeepers, customers, and passersby.
Eyewitnesses said the driver lost control due to overspeeding, leading to the crashes. The force of the impact caused significant damage to the shops and created panic in the area.
Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and transported the injured to a nearby hospital. Hospital officials confirmed that all patients are now stable and out of danger.
The incident has reignited concerns about reckless driving and road safety. Authorities have warned drivers to follow speed limits, especially in crowded areas.
Earlier, in Islamabad, two young women were killed after being struck by a speeding black SUV. The victims, riding a scooter, were identified as 26-year-old Samreen Hussain and 27-year-old Tabinda Batool. Both died at the scene.
In a legal development, Judicial Magistrate Shaista Khan Kundi acquitted the accused driver after the legal heirs of the victims submitted affidavits forgiving the suspect. The court noted that no objections were raised, and the accused had already been granted bail.
Experts say speeding car crashes remain a major cause of injuries and fatalities on city roads. Road safety campaigns and strict enforcement of traffic rules are crucial to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Authorities continue to investigate the Manyar Masjid accident and are urging motorists to drive responsibly, particularly in commercial areas where pedestrian activity is high.
