Supreme Court Approves Updated Rules 2025 To Improve Justice

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has unanimously approved the updated Supreme Court Rules 2025 in a full court meeting held in Islamabad. The new rules aim to enhance judicial efficiency and ensure faster service delivery for citizens.

The updated rules were developed after a comprehensive review of the Supreme Court Rules 1980 and the 2025 draft. A special review committee examined operational challenges and incorporated recommendations to simplify court procedures and reduce delays.

The review committee included Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Irfan Saadat, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, and Justice Aqeel Abbasi. Each member was commended by the Supreme Court for their contribution to drafting the new rules.

The committee prepared the draft under Rule 1(4), Order 1, and the Supreme Court formally approved the updates under Rule 5, Order 4. The revised rules are designed to streamline judicial processes and ensure more affordable and timely justice for the public.

In addition to approving the rules, the Supreme Court conferred the status of Senior Advocate upon Munir Paracha, recognizing his contributions to the legal profession.

The Supreme Court emphasized that the updated rules reflect a modernized approach to judicial administration. They are expected to improve overall service delivery and make the court system more accessible and effective nationwide.

Officials said the Supreme Court Rules 2025 will address procedural inefficiencies, reduce unnecessary formalities, and provide clearer guidelines for litigants and lawyers. These measures are part of the courtโ€™s ongoing efforts to modernize Pakistanโ€™s judicial system and strengthen public trust in the judiciary.

The Supreme Court noted that continuous review and updates of its rules are essential to meet evolving legal needs and ensure that citizens receive justice in a timely and efficient manner.

With the approval of the Supreme Court Rules 2025, Pakistanโ€™s highest court takes a significant step toward judicial reform, improved case management, and enhanced access to justice for all.

This marks a historic move in Pakistanโ€™s legal system, reinforcing the Supreme Courtโ€™s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and fairness.
