BANNU – Terror strikes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa again, leaving three traffic policemen martyred on Sunday. The attack took place in Lakki Marwat’s Serai Naurang area, targeting officers performing their duties.
According to police, unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire near Dil Begu Khel. The attack instantly killed Jalal Khan, Azizullah, and Abdullah. Jalal Khan, the ticketing officer in charge, was among the martyred. Their bodies were transported to Naurang Hospital, and authorities launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers.
In a separate incident in Bannu district, another police constable, Rashid Khan, was shot dead by unknown assailants while leaving his home for work. Officials immediately secured the area, collected evidence, and began tracking the perpetrators, said Asif Hasan, spokesperson for the Bannu District Police Officer.
These incidents highlight a growing wave of violence against law enforcement in KP. Just last month, terror strikes in Karak claimed the lives of five policemen during a vehicle ambush. Following that attack, counter-terrorism operations led to the killing of eight suspected terrorists.
Authorities warn that police and other security personnel in KP remain at high risk as militants continue targeting them. Security forces have intensified patrols, cordoned off vulnerable areas, and are working to track down those responsible.
The repeated attacks have caused alarm among local communities and raised concerns over the safety of law enforcement personnel. Officials urge citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity, while promising swift action against the perpetrators.
