ISLAMABAD – Dr Syrus Sajjad Qazi has been appointed as the new foreign secretary of Pakistan by the federal government. He will be taking over from Dr Asad Majeed Khan, who is set to retire on August 17 upon reaching the age of superannuation.Dr Syrus Qazi, a seasoned diplomat and a grade-22 senior officer of the foreign service, is currently serving as the special secretary of Foreign Affairs.

With a degree from King Edward Medical College Lahore, the new foreign secretary brings extensive experience in both bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, having held significant positions throughout his career.
Dr Syrus Qazi will assume the role of foreign secretary and continue in this capacity until 2025.
