LAHORE: A family in Lahore suffered a major loss after Thieves loot their house while they were out buying sacrificial animals ahead of Eid al-Adha.
Police said the incident took place in Nawab Town. The family had left their home on Sunday during a weekly holiday. They went to a cattle market to purchase an animal for Eid.
During their absence, the house was targeted by burglars. The suspects allegedly broke into the empty home and stole valuables worth millions of rupees.
Officials confirmed that Thieves loot gold, prize bonds, and foreign currency during the burglary. Around 25 tolas of gold were also reported missing.
Police said the family returned home later and found the house completely ransacked. They immediately informed authorities about the incident.
Investigators have collected fingerprints and other forensic evidence from the scene. The case is still under investigation, and efforts are ongoing to trace the suspects.
Authorities said security has been increased in residential areas during the Eid season. Many families are visiting cattle markets to purchase sacrificial animals.
In a separate incident, Thieves loot traders in Karachi during a daylight robbery near Malir Bridge. The attack took place close to the Malir Bakra Mandi.
Police reported that the traders had come from Rahim Yar Khan to sell livestock ahead of Eid. They were returning after completing sales when the robbery occurred.
Six armed suspects on motorcycles intercepted the traders. They reportedly snatched around Rs 4.5 million in cash.
The victims were left shocked as the robbery happened in a busy area during peak trading hours. Police have started reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations.
Officials said both incidents highlight rising concerns over street crime and burglary during the festive season. Increased movement of people and cash is making citizens more vulnerable.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious while traveling and handling large amounts of money. Security forces are continuing efforts to improve safety in urban areas.
