Three labourers lost their lives after a tragic road accident in Sialkot on Monday. The incident occurred at Musapur stop in Tehsil Pasroor. A trailer carrying heavy iron rods overturned, trapping the workers beneath the load.
According to Rescue 1122, the trailer was Iron-Rod-Loaded and moving through the area when it suddenly went off the road. Officials said dense fog reduced visibility at the time. This likely caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The trailer overturned within moments, spilling iron rods onto the road.
Local residents immediately informed emergency services. Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the scene without delay. The rescue operation was difficult due to the heavy iron rods scattered across the site. The workers were trapped underneath the load and could not escape.
Rescuers worked carefully to remove the iron rods. After several hours, the bodies of all three labourers were recovered. The victims were later shifted to a nearby hospital. Doctors confirmed that all three had died on the spot due to severe injuries.
The deceased were identified as 25-year-old Ali Raza from Gojra Shakargarh. The other two victims were aged around 40 and 45 years. Their identities could not be confirmed immediately. Authorities are working to identify them and inform their families.
District Emergency Officer Engineer Naveed Iqbal was present at the scene. He supervised and led the rescue operation. He praised the rescue teams for their timely response despite difficult conditions.
Police also reached the site after receiving information. They cleared the road after the rescue work was completed. Traffic was temporarily disrupted due to the overturned Iron-Rod-Loaded trailer. Normal traffic flow was restored later.
Initial reports suggest that weather conditions played a major role in the accident. Fog is common in the area during early hours. Officials urged drivers to reduce speed in low visibility conditions. They also stressed the importance of proper load management.
Accidents involving Iron-Rod-Loaded vehicles are often severe due to the weight involved. Authorities said safety checks for heavy transport vehicles are necessary. They added that drivers should be trained to handle such loads carefully.
A formal investigation has been initiated to determine further details. Police will examine whether negligence or mechanical failure contributed to the accident. Further action will be taken after the inquiry is completed.
