Heavy Snowfall Strands Nearly 100 Vehicles in Tirah Valley, Rescue Underway

Severe snowfall and heavy rain have disrupted life in Tirah Valley , Khyber district, leaving nearly 100 vehicles stranded. Authorities say rescue operations are ongoing to assist trapped individuals.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi confirmed that many people are stuck due to extreme weather. He said he is personally monitoring the rescue efforts. Heavy machinery has been deployed to clear blocked roads, and trucks carrying food and essential supplies have been dispatched to the affected areas.

Nearly 100 Vehicles Stranded

Sohail Khan, Secretary of Relief for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reported that around 100 vehicles remain trapped in Tirah Valley. So far, 35 individuals have been relocated to safer locations. Rescue teams from Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, and Mardan have reached the area. Over 50 personnel, 16 ambulances, and multiple heavy machines are engaged in relief efforts. Ten trucks carrying blankets, warm clothing, beds, and other essentials have also been sent.

Pakistan Army Joins Rescue Efforts

The Pakistan Army has joined the operations to help affected families. Military teams are assisting with temporary relocation and ensuring basic needs are met. Army personnel are also helping to restore traffic flow on blocked roads in Tirah Valley.

Rescue Operations Continue Amid Road Blockages

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed that roads in Tirah Valley remain blocked due to heavy snow. Rescue operations are ongoing to extricate stranded vehicles and move people to safety. PDMA teams from Peshawar are equipped with ambulances, medical supplies, and recovery vehicles.

PDMAโ€™s Director-General has directed all district administrations to remain alert. Authorities continue to closely monitor the situation across the province. Officials urge residents and travelers to exercise caution and avoid traveling to high-risk areas until roads are cleared.
