Eight personnel from the Pakistan Army were martyred, and ten terrorists were killed in a recent attack on Bannu Cantt. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that on the morning of July 15, security forces thwarted an attempted breach when ten terrorists attacked the Bannu Cantt defenses.
The assailants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into one of the cantonment’s walls, causing destruction but failing to penetrate the area.
Among the fallen soldiers were Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad, Hawaldar Zil Hussain, Havaldar Shehzad Ahmed, Lance Naik Sabz Ali, Sepoy Ashfaq Hussain, Sepoy Subhan Majeed, Sepoy Imtiaz Khan, and Sepoy Arsalan Aslam.
In response to the attack, security forces quickly neutralized all ten terrorists, preventing further casualties and saving many lives.
The ISPR attributed the attack to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, which has a history of conducting operations against Pakistan from Afghan territory. Pakistan has consistently raised concerns with the Afghan interim government about the use of its soil for such terrorist activities and urged them to take action against these groups.
The ISPR emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to combating terrorism and stated that the armed forces will continue to protect the nation from threats originating from Afghanistan, enhancing security measures in light of this incident.
