In Karachi, an exchange of fire occurred between a citizen driving a car and three armed men on a motorcycle. The citizen said the suspects attempted to rob him at gunpoint. He opened fire in self-defense, resulting in two of the dacoits being shot dead on the spot. The third suspect managed to escape, reportedly injured.
Police confirmed the recovery of two pistols and other items, including multiple mobile phones, from the deceased dacoits. Law enforcement officials arrived quickly at the scene and transferred the bodies to a hospital. Authorities are currently verifying their identities.
According to police reports, the suspects had earlier snatched a mobile phone from a citizen named Ghaffar. CCTV footage is being examined to trace the absconding suspect and ensure his arrest. Investigators are also reviewing similar cases to determine if the dacoits were involved in other crimes.
The incident follows another robbery in Karachi’s Bahadurabad area. Students of Jinnah Medical and Dental College (JMDC) were targeted by armed men at around 8:15 am. Two unidentified suspects boarded a college bus and looted mobile phones, gold jewelry, and other valuables from students before fleeing.
One student noted that the assailants appeared to have conducted prior surveillance. The bus had minimal security, and its doors were often left open, making it an easy target. Police collected evidence from the scene and launched an investigation into the attack.
Authorities have warned citizens to remain vigilant, especially in areas where armed robbery incidents are reported. Police are increasing patrolling and urging the public to report suspicious activities immediately.
