Two PTI Workers Arrested for Targeting PML-N MPA in Pakistan

The Abbottabad Cyber Crime Agency has arrested two Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers for allegedly defaming PML-N MPA Sonia Shah on social media.

The arrests were made following a formal complaint by MPA Sonia Shah from Mansehra. She requested authorities to take action against individuals spreading false and harmful content online.

The two workers, identified as Majid Shah and Umair Shah, both residents of Mansehra, were arrested for their involvement in character-assassination posts targeting the PML-N legislator. The cyber crime agency confirmed that the arrested individuals will be investigated under relevant laws for online harassment and defamation.

Officials said the arrests reflect the government’s commitment to taking strict action against social media misuse and online attacks on public figures. “No one is above the law, and anyone involved in spreading false information or defamatory content will be held accountable,” a senior official said.

The cyber crime agency also warned the public to exercise caution while posting on social media platforms. The arrests come amid growing concerns over the misuse of social media for political attacks, particularly during heightened political activity in the region.

Authorities confirmed that the two arrested PTI workers will be presented before the relevant court in Mansehra, where further legal proceedings will determine the next steps. The investigation aims to ensure justice and maintain public trust in online spaces.

Political observers noted that the case highlights the rising role of cyber crime units in monitoring social media content and protecting public officials from online harassment. They emphasized that social media users must follow laws and respect the rights of individuals to avoid legal consequences.
