President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, arrived in Pakistan today on a one-day official visit. The visit marks his first trip to the country as head of state and holds strong diplomatic importance.
As the aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, Pakistan Air Force fighter jets escorted it. The jets presented an aerial salute to honor the visiting leader. The gesture highlighted the importance Pakistan attaches to the visit of the UAE President.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received the visiting leader at Nur Khan Air Base. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar was also present. Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended the reception. Several federal ministers joined them at the airport.
The UAE President was given a 21-gun salute upon arrival. A guard of honour was also presented in his respect. After the formal reception, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed met the federal ministers present at the air base. He also interacted warmly with children representing Pakistan’s diverse cultures. The children welcomed him with traditional gestures.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, a high-level delegation accompanied the visiting leader. The delegation includes ministers and senior officials from the United Arab Emirates. During the visit, both sides will discuss bilateral relations and regional issues. Global matters of mutual interest will also be part of the talks.
The spokesperson said the visit reflects strong and brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE. These ties are based on shared values and long-standing cooperation. The visit is expected to further strengthen collaboration in key sectors.
During meetings with Pakistan’s political and military leadership, the UAE President will discuss regional developments. Talks will also focus on expanding cooperation in trade and investment. Energy, infrastructure, and development projects are also expected to be reviewed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the visit could boost economic cooperation. Both sides may explore new opportunities for strategic partnerships. Progress on ongoing joint projects will also be assessed during discussions.
Due to the high-profile visit, a public holiday was declared in Islamabad. The Cabinet Division issued a notification announcing the closure of the Pakistan Secretariat. All federal government offices in the capital remain closed for the day.
