ISLAMABAD: After months of lagging behind other telecom operators, Ufone 5G has finally started rolling out in Islamabad. The move marks an important step in Pakistanโs growing 5G expansion.
Initial testing has confirmed that Ufone 5G is now active in several parts of the capital. While the rollout is still limited, more locations are expected to be added in the coming months.
According to early tests, Ufone 5G coverage has been verified in multiple areas of Islamabad. These include F-10/3 near the traffic signal on Margalla Road. Coverage was also found on Jinnah Avenue near the New Blue Area and around sectors G-9/2 and G-9/3.
Other active spots include areas near Centaurus Mall, parts of Islamabad Expressway close to G-8, and the Faizabad interchange where the expressway links with Murree Road. Service was also confirmed near Serena Hotel.
Since the testing was limited, experts believe there may be more Ufone 5G locations across the city. The company has not yet released a complete coverage map.
Speed tests were also carried out during the network check. Results showed average download speeds of over 300 Mbps. These tests were performed while moving, which often affects speed performance.
Experts say users may experience even better speeds while standing still or using the network indoors. This suggests Ufone 5G has the potential to deliver stronger performance in stable conditions.
However, upload speeds were lower compared to downloads. During the tests, upload speeds mostly stayed below 20 Mbps while travelling.
The latest launch brings Ufone closer to its competitors, who started their 5G rollout earlier in Pakistan. Industry watchers believe this expansion could improve competition in the telecom market.

More Ufone 5G coverage is expected in Islamabad as the company continues expanding its network. Users in other parts of the city may soon gain access as the rollout grows in the coming weeks and months.
