A University of Lahore (UOL) student, Awais Sultan, reportedly died after falling from the fourth floor of a university building. The incident, suspected to be a suicide, occurred on campus, sending shockwaves among students and staff.
According to reports, rescue teams immediately shifted the critically injured UOL student to a nearby hospital. Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries. The exact circumstances behind the fall remain unclear, prompting a formal investigation by local police.
Speaking to ARY News, Awaisโ brother, Sohaib Sultan, expressed frustration over delays in the probe report. He said the university administration had promised the report by December 29 but has yet to provide it. Sohaib described the delay as โinjusticeโ and claimed that the university hand-picked members for the investigation committee to favor its own interests.
The UOL studentโs family was reportedly told that two representatives would be included in the inquiry, but no family members were allowed to participate. Sohaib also mentioned that forensic analysis of Awaisโ mobile phone has not been completed. Furthermore, he said the police had refused to file a complaint against a university teacher when approached by the family.
The University of Lahore has not yet released an official statement regarding the tragic incident. Social media reports indicate that Awais Sultan was a fifth-semester student in the Department of Pharmacy. Videos circulating online show security personnel and university staff near the site of the fall, highlighting the tense atmosphere on campus.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine whether the death of the UOL student was accidental or intentional. Meanwhile, the student community and family members await the release of the promised probe report to gain clarity about the circumstances surrounding Awaisโ death.
