In a shocking incident in Karachi, a woman chained to a bed in a Defence Housing Authority (DHA) residence was rescued by police. Authorities said the victim was unlawfully confined by her former husband.
According to police reports, the woman, identified as Nafisa Fatima, was lured to the house under the pretext of receiving child maintenance. After entering, she was reportedly restrained with chains by her ex-husband, Latif, who then fled the scene.
Police received an emergency call about the incident on the 15th. Officers reached the third floor of the building and forced open the door. They found the woman chained inside a room, in distress. She was immediately freed and provided medical attention.
The rescued woman told authorities that she had been kept chained since around 9:30 a.m. She also mentioned that she has three children. The couple has a pending court case related to family matters.
Investigating officials confirmed that raids are ongoing to apprehend the suspect. Police emphasized that the ex-husband’s actions were illegal and that the victim is now in a safe place under protection.
Nafisa Fatima also revealed that she is a resident of Sheereen Jinnah Colony. She expressed relief at being rescued and called for justice against her former husband.
