Girl Jumps From Fourth Floor of Jinnah Hospital in Lahore

A 25-year-old woman was injured on Wednesday after jumping from the fourth floor of Jinnah Hospital, police said. The woman, identified as Ayesha, is a resident of Abbottabad and had been admitted to Medical Unit-II for treatment.

Officials reported that she sustained injuries and was immediately shifted to the surgical emergency ward. Doctors confirmed that she is now out of danger.

Police stated that Ayesha was suffering from mental health issues. SSP Operations Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem explained that the incident occurred when her brother briefly left the ward to bring food. During that time, she went to the rooftop and jumped from the fourth floor. Legal proceedings have been initiated to investigate the case.

This incident is the third recent case in Lahore involving young people jumping from buildings, highlighting growing concerns over mental health issues among Generation Z.

Last month, a female student, Fatima, attempted suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of a private university. Fatima, a first-semester pharmacy student, was rushed to the ICU of a private hospital. Sources said she jumped from the same spot where another student had previously attempted suicide.

In December 2025, a student named Owais Sultan died after jumping from the fourth floor of the same university building. Following these incidents, the University of Lahore formed an eight-member inquiry committee, led by retired Dean Muhammad Bilal Khan, to investigate the repeated cases and suggest preventive measures.

Authorities and mental health experts have urged parents, educators, and peers to be vigilant and provide support to young people struggling with depression and anxiety. They emphasized the importance of counseling and timely intervention to prevent further tragedies.

The recent incidents have sparked discussions on social media and among citizens about the urgent need to address mental health awareness in educational institutions and hospitals across Lahore.
