Yasmin Rashid Moved To Shaukat Khanum Hospital Due To Health Issues

PTI leader Yasmin Rashid was admitted to Shaukat Khanum Hospital (SKH) in Lahore on Monday, as confirmed by her lawyer. Rashid, who has been incarcerated for over a year, faces numerous charges related to the May 9, 2023, protests and riots that erupted following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Initially detained on May 12 of the previous year under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, Rashid was subsequently arrested for her alleged role in the May 9 disturbances. Earlier in May, she was hospitalized at Services Hospital in Lahore after losing consciousness in Kot Lakhpat Jail.

Her lawyer, Advocate Rana Mudassar Umer, revealed that Rashid was transferred to SKH after her health deteriorated while in prison.

He noted that she had been suffering from breathing difficulties for several days and had low hemoglobin levels—a crucial protein that transports oxygen from the lungs throughout the body.

Umer also pointed out that Rashid was supposed to undergo cancer tests two months ago, but these tests were not performed. Her worsening condition necessitated her transfer from the prison hospital to SKH for more comprehensive medical care.
