Political figures in Pakistan have strongly condemned the recent desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden, expressed their deep distress, and called for immediate action to prevent such incidents in the future. Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman denounced the act, urging the international community to address the issue seriously. He emphasized that provocation and disrespect of religious sentiments should not be allowed under the pretext of freedom of expression.

Khawaja Ahmad Hasan, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister, expressed solidarity with the Muslim community and condemned the anti-Islamic act. He called for the perpetrator to be brought to justice and prayed for divine retribution. Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Central Information Secretary of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), also condemned the desecration and highlighted the importance of interfaith harmony for global peace. She criticized the Swedish government’s silence on the matter and called for strict action against those responsible.

The incident prompted an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which was praised by Awan. She stressed the need for unity among Muslim nations to counter such occurrences and urged Muslim leaders to raise their voice at international forums.

In response to the incident, a protest demonstration was held on Ferozepur Road, led by the Shia Ulema Council. Protesters called for the suspension of diplomatic ties with Sweden and the expulsion of the Swedish Ambassador to Pakistan. Prominent figures from different schools of thought addressed the participants, highlighting the unrest caused by such incidents worldwide and demanding decisive action.
