Pakistan’s Foreign Office Voices Alarm and Condemnation of Israeli Actions in Gaza

The Foreign Office (FO) has raised poignant concerns regarding the escalating crisis in Gaza, condemning Israel’s treatment of innocent Palestinians. Amid the ongoing turmoil, the FO continues to voice sharp criticism against Israel, emphasizing the dire situation in Gaza and urgently calling upon the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to act decisively for peace. The FO’s plea for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire is coupled with an impassioned appeal to lift the siege, facilitating crucial and unimpeded humanitarian assistance.

Reports from the Gaza health ministry shockingly cite a death toll of 20,000 Palestinians amidst the harrowing conflict.

Meanwhile, the FO addressed the Indian Supreme Court’s recent decision regarding Article 370 in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s stance against India’s actions in the occupied valley, as previously communicated by interim Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani. Pakistan vehemently supports the Kashmiris’ quest for self-determination and pledges unwavering diplomatic, political, and moral support.

Amidst these international developments, the Indian Supreme Court upheld the Modi government’s annulment of Article 370, altering the special status in occupied Kashmir. The court’s directive for elections in IIOJK by September 30, 2024, has added another layer of significance to the region’s political landscape.

The 2019 abolition of Article 370 by the BJP altered the region’s dynamics, impacting local employment and educational opportunities. The article’s repeal confined Indian parliamentary influence in areas limited to defense, foreign affairs, and communications.”
