Peshawar Circle of FIA Detains Impostor Posing as Intelligence Agency Officer

The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle in Peshawar successfully apprehended an individual masquerading as an officer from an intelligence organization in a strategic operation on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Sajjad Hussain, adopted the false identity of a deputy director, exploiting unsuspecting individuals by coercing money from them. Hussain, originally a motor mechanic by profession, targeted government officials, manipulating them into surrendering significant amounts of gold under the guise of conducting official inquiries.

The arrest unfolded meticulously as the accused, accompanied by several fake officials, was discovered at a hotel during a precision operation directed by Deputy Director Saadullah.

Triggered by a complaint, the FIA team promptly apprehended Hussain outside the NAB office in Peshawar, leading to a subsequent search that uncovered a trove of incriminating evidence. Among the findings were counterfeit identity cards, a fabricated FIA service card, an illicit arms license, and the seizure of two mobile phones.

The investigation revealed a distressing pattern in Hussain’s modus operandi. Exploiting social media, he collected intelligence on government officials, utilizing this information to fabricate false inquiries. By instilling fear and harassment, he manipulated officers into compliance.

Equally troubling was Hussain’s exploitation of female professionals. Under the pretext of conducting inquiries, he extorted gold and valuables from lady doctors and female officers.

The scope of Hussain’s deceit extended beyond Peshawar, reaching Haripur, where he deceived individuals by assuming an officer’s persona, illicitly acquiring mobile phones, cash, and gold through fraudulent means.

The arrest stands as a testament to the vigilance of the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle, safeguarding individuals from such fraudulent impersonation and extortion schemes, reaffirming their commitment to combatting fraudulent practices and preserving the integrity of law enforcement.
