Asim Munir Pays Tribute to Martyrs on Defence Day

ISLAMABAD: On the eve of Defence and Martyrs Day, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir paid rich tribute to the martyrs and their families. He said their sacrifices are a guiding light for future generations.

Marking the 60th anniversary of September 6, Pakistan’s Armed Forces expressed deep respect for the nation’s fallen heroes. The military leadership reaffirmed its resolve to defend the country and serve the people with dedication.

In a joint message, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Air Chief, and Naval Chief echoed this spirit. They praised the unmatched courage of soldiers who defended Pakistan during the 1965 war. According to the statement, the armed forces stood united with the people to repel enemy aggression.

Sacrifices Remembered

Asim Munir recalled September 6, 1965, as a day symbolizing resilience and national strength. He said Pakistan’s martyrs fought bravely and left behind a legacy that will never fade. The army chief assured that any future aggression would be met with an immediate and decisive response.

Beyond defence, the armed forces also reaffirmed their role in humanitarian efforts. They continue to support flood-affected families across Punjab and other regions, showing solidarity with citizens during natural disasters.

National Observance

Defence and Martyrs Day was observed across the country with solemn respect. Citizens and institutions paid homage to all who laid down their lives since independence, particularly those who fought terrorism. The sacrifices of the martyrs remain a source of pride for the nation.

The military leadership emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces will protect peace and stability at all costs. “Long live Pakistan,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in its message.

As the nation reflects on this historic day, Asim Munir and other leaders reminded Pakistanis of their duty to work toward a stronger, united, and peaceful country.
