Former Sindh governor, Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan, has announced the formation of a new political party, a move expected to significantly alter the political dynamics in urban Sindh, particularly Karachi and Hyderabad. During an interview with Express News, Ibad revealed that the party’s infrastructure is nearing completion and that operations will begin soon under a new name.
The party’s slogan, “My identity is Pakistan,” reflects its mission to instill patriotism and counter anti-state sentiments. Ibad highlighted that events organized in major cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Islamabad, and Peshawar on August 14 and September 6 were well-received by the public.
He further explained that the party aims to fill a political vacuum in Karachi and across Pakistan, focusing on the welfare of the people, as he feels no current political group is effectively addressing the public’s needs. The party’s organisational structure is being developed with a focus on cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Multan. Additionally, Ibad intends to hand over leadership to younger generations after the party’s initial setup.
The manifesto, still being finalized, will prioritize countering divisions between the army and the people and defending Pakistan’s institutions. Ibad’s party aims to restore hope amid the country’s current challenges, such as economic instability, inflation, and unemployment, and combat negativity surrounding the nation’s future.
While the party’s name and flag are still under wraps, Ibad promised a “big surprise” with their official launch, set for October or November 2024. He plans to return to Pakistan after completing the party’s groundwork.
This new political venture seeks to rejuvenate Pakistan’s political and economic landscape by fostering unity, patriotism, and practical solutions for the nation’s pressing issues.
