IHC Directs Re-examination of Elahi Case

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) medical board to conduct a re-examination of former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi’s health at Adiala Central Jail and submit a report to the court.

During the hearing of a petition regarding the transfer of Elahi from Adiala Jail, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of the IHC instructed the Pims medical board to visit Elahi in the jail on Saturday (today) and provide the court with a report on whether he should remain in the jail or be transferred to a hospital for treatment. Furthermore, the court has requested a report on the facilities being provided to Elahi in the jail. The jail superintendent has been directed to submit a report regarding Elahi’s treatment in the jail.

The hearing has been adjourned until Monday, awaiting the reports from the medical board and the jail superintendent.
