ISLAMABAD – Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said the party will continue its protest movement. He said further action depends on relief for the public.

The JI chief has been leading a campaign against the petroleum levy and rising fuel costs. The party has also held talks with the government over its demands.

Hafiz Naeem said the government should take steps to reduce the financial burden on citizens. He has maintained that the protest movement will continue until meaningful relief is provided.

The JI had launched its Long march towards Islamabad on September 20. The march began from Karachi and was planned to reach Islamabad on September 23 and 24.

The party has demanded the withdrawal of the petroleum levy. Hafiz Naeem has also criticised the government’s fuel relief package as insufficient.

The JI chief has said negotiations with the government should continue. Several rounds of talks have already taken place between both sides.

The government and JI previously formed committees for discussions about public relief. The talks focused on the petroleum levy and measures to reduce economic pressure.

Hafiz Naeem has also called for political differences to be resolved through dialogue. He urged the government to engage with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf through a committee.

He said political issues should be addressed through negotiations and mutual understanding. He also stressed the importance of peaceful political activity.

The JI chief has maintained that citizens have the right to peaceful protest. He has also said his party does not want to create unnecessary disruption during its demonstrations.

During earlier remarks, Hafiz Naeem said the party would not block roads during the Long march. He also said the march was intended to seek relief rather than confrontation.

The JI’s protest movement has focused mainly on rising petroleum prices. The party has argued that removing the petroleum levy would provide broader relief to citizens.

The government has defended its relief measures while continuing discussions with the JI. The two sides have held several rounds of negotiations over the party’s demands.

The Long march has therefore remained part of the JI’s broader pressure campaign. The party says its protests will continue if its demands are not addressed.

Hafiz Naeem has also expressed support for dialogue between political parties. He has urged the government and PTI to use negotiations to address their differences.

The JI leader’s comments come as political activity remains active in Islamabad. The capital is also preparing for other planned political demonstrations.
