Lahore High Court (LHC) has fixed for hearing a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seeking permission to hold a public rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 5.
The case has been listed before Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf as an objection case. The court is expected to consider both the procedural objections and the substance of the petition.
The application was filed by PTI leader Mian Usman Akram, who named the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore and other officials as respondents.
Registrar previously raised objections
Before being listed for hearing, the petition was objected to by the Lahore High Court Registrar’s Office.
According to the objection, the petitioner had not first approached the appropriate forum before filing the matter in the High Court. The Registrar also questioned whether the petition was maintainable because the available legal remedy had not been exhausted.
Despite those objections, the case has now been placed before the court.
What the court will consider
The hearing is expected to focus on whether the petition is maintainable and whether PTI’s request should proceed for further consideration.
At this stage, the High Court has not issued any ruling on whether permission will be granted for the proposed public rally.
Any decision regarding the rally will depend on the outcome of the court proceedings.

The Lahore High Court will hear arguments from the petitioner and the respondents before deciding on the procedural objections and any further legal steps.
