Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi held a follow-up meeting on Friday with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker to discuss ways to strengthen Pakistan–U.S. ties.
The meeting highlighted key issues, including security cooperation, counter-narcotics efforts, and matters concerning Pakistanis wanted in the United States. Both sides stressed the importance of building stronger institutional linkages.
According to officials, Mohsin Naqvi and the U.S. envoy also reviewed collaboration in border security, coast guard operations, and forensic sciences. The dialogue aimed at expanding joint efforts to tackle regional and global challenges.
Baker expressed condolences over the loss of lives and property caused by recent floods in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She conveyed the sympathies of the American people to the victims of the disaster.
During the talks, Mohsin Naqvi welcomed recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump on cooperating with Pakistan to enhance oil reserves. He called the statement a “positive and encouraging development” and urged American investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s energy sector.
“Pakistan offers vast investment potential, particularly in oil and gas. The government will ensure maximum facilitation for U.S. businesses,” Naqvi stated.
Baker reaffirmed that Washington attaches “special importance” to its relations with Islamabad and expressed readiness to deepen economic and security cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Federal Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha and Additional Interior Secretary Major General Noor Wali Khan, reflecting the importance of the discussion.
Officials noted that the talks marked another step toward enhancing bilateral relations, with both sides agreeing to pursue stronger partnerships in security and economic growth.
