Cracks Deepen in PTI as Salman Akram Raja Allegedly Defies Imran Khan’s Orders

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is facing growing internal tensions after recent remarks by its secretary general, Salman Akram Raja. His comments about party chairman Barrister Gohar have triggered strong reactions within party ranks. The situation has raised concerns about unity and leadership discipline.

According to party sources, internal WhatsApp groups have become active with criticism. Many senior members have openly questioned the conduct of Salman Akram Raja. They accuse him of creating divisions within the party. Some leaders believe his statements have weakened internal trust.

The controversy has also highlighted concerns over the newly formed political committee. Several PTI senators have objected to the committee’s structure. They say it lacks proper representation from the upper house. Senator Fauzia Arshad was included in the committee in place of Ali Zafar. This decision reportedly upset multiple party members.

Senior senators insist that PTI founder Imran Khan personally appointed Barrister Gohar as chairman. They argue that Salman Akram Raja had no authority to comment publicly on the appointment. Party elders believe such statements should be avoided to maintain discipline and respect.

Sources further claim that Barrister Gohar was treated disrespectfully in front of the founder’s family. This incident has added to the anger among senior leaders. Many see it as a violation of party norms and values.

Organizational issues have also surfaced within PTI. Core committee meetings have reportedly been suspended. The last meeting took place around five months ago. This delay has raised questions about internal coordination and decision-making.

The first meeting of the new political committee also faced problems. Key figures, including Barrister Gohar and Mahmood Khan Achakzai, did not attend. No follow-up meetings have been held since then. This has further deepened the party’s internal crisis.

Party insiders claim that senior leaders are being ignored. They say Barrister Gohar has advised members to remain silent during the dispute. At the same time, Salman Akram Raja is accused of not sharing important statements from the party founder.

Sources also allege that he did not respond to a recent DG ISPR press conference. Other leaders had to issue official reactions instead. Critics now claim Salman Akram Raja is running party affairs on personal judgment.
