PTI Founder and Bushra Bibi Denied Immediate Relief by IHC in Toshakhana-II Case

In the Toshakhana-II case, PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were denied immediate relief by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Justice Raja Inam Amin Munhas presided over the hearing of their acquittal petitions and issued notices to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), requesting a response by January 28.

At the start of the hearing, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s defense counsel requested the case be transferred to another bench. Lawyer Salman Safdar highlighted that Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb had previously heard five related petitions and suggested that the acquittal petitions should also be referred to the same bench.

Justice Munhas clarified that the case before him concerned acquittal petitions, not bail applications, and stated that the court would proceed to hear the case on its merits.

Additionally, Salman Safdar sought a stay order on the Toshakhana-II trial. However, Justice Munhas declined, noting that there is no judicial precedent for halting criminal proceedings at this stage. The court decided to issue notices and consider arguments from both parties before delivering a decision.
