PTI Announces Nationwide Protest From August 5 for Imran Khan’s Release

ISLAMABAD: PTI has announced that it will begin a nationwide political movement on August 5, marking three years since the imprisonment of party founder Imran Khan. The campaign will focus on demanding his release and raising other party demands.

The decision was made during a meeting of the PTI parliamentary party held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) House in Islamabad. The session was chaired by interim party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and attended by party lawmakers.

During the meeting, members discussed parliamentary affairs and finalized plans for the upcoming movement. According to party leaders, the campaign will begin on August 5 and continue across the country.

PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja said the movement will include public gatherings, demonstrations, and a long march. He added that the party has completed initial planning for the nationwide campaign.

Raja also said the opinions of Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas would be sought before finalizing the protest strategy. Their input will help shape the party’s future activities and demonstrations.

Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said party leaders also discussed the health of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. He noted that August 5 marks three years since the former prime minister’s imprisonment.

Gohar announced that rallies would be organized across Pakistan to mark the occasion. He said the events would highlight the party’s demands and raise awareness about issues it considers important.

The interim chairman also claimed that Imran Khan was not receiving justice through the courts. He said the country needs an end to what he described as injustice and oppression.

In a separate development, PTI rejected reports suggesting it had decided to end its boycott of parliamentary standing committees. Party leaders said the reports circulating in the media were incorrect.

National Assembly Chief Whip Malik Amir stated that the party’s position remains unchanged. He said PTI would continue its boycott based on what it considers a principled stance.

Malik Amir also denied reports claiming that the National Assembly Secretariat had been informed about ending the boycott. He described those reports as inaccurate and without basis.

According to the chief whip, the boycott was initiated on the instructions of Imran Khan. He said any future decision regarding the boycott would only be taken after consultation with the party founder.

The meeting highlighted the party’s continued focus on political mobilization and parliamentary strategy. Leaders emphasized that all major decisions would be made through internal consultation.
