PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has warned of a protest outside the Supreme Court. The warning came over permission to meet PTI founder Imran Khan.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Afridi demanded access to the former prime minister. PTI leaders Salman Akram Raja and Babar Awan also attended the press conference.
Sohail Afridi said he was ready to give an assurance before meeting Imran Khan. He said he would not hold a press conference after the meeting.
The KP chief minister also expressed concern about Imran Khan’s health. He called for proper medical treatment for the former prime minister.
Afridi said his main demand was permission to meet the PTI founder. He questioned why such access was being denied.
The chief minister also raised concerns about the impact of the situation on Pakistan’s youth. He said young people were worried about their future.
Afridi claimed that the youth were also deeply frustrated over what they considered injustice. He questioned what message would reach the younger generation if a former prime minister faced such treatment.
The KP chief minister also referred to a September 27 protest call. He said Pakistan’s youth would come out of their homes on that date.
According to Afridi, preparations would be made across all provinces ahead of the planned call. He did not provide further details about the arrangements.
Sohail Afridi warned that the situation could lead to a sit-in outside the Supreme Court. He said the protest would take place if permission to meet Imran Khan was not granted.
The chief minister stressed that his government and supporters did not want any harm to come to Imran Khan. He urged that no one should attempt to harm the PTI founder.
Afridi’s remarks come amid continued political tensions surrounding Imran Khan. The former prime minister remains a central figure in Pakistan’s political landscape.
The KP chief minister has made access to Imran Khan a key demand. He said he was prepared to follow assurances requested by authorities.
