Babar Azam Sets Unwanted Record in PSL

Pakistan’s batting sensation, Babar Azam, currently representing Peshawar Zalmi, is displaying remarkable form in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, his unfortunate runout for a duck against Islamabad United has now earned him the dubious distinction of being the batter with the most runouts in PSL history, totaling eight runouts throughout his career in the tournament.

In the match against Islamabad United, Babar’s dismissal came at a crucial juncture as Peshawar Zalmi chased a formidable target of 197 set by Islamabad United. With the Rawalpindi pitch historically favoring high scores, Zalmi relied heavily on their star batsman to anchor the run chase.

The Zalmi skipper was visibly frustrated with himself after the runout, recognizing that the decision was his own.

Babar’s exceptional century against Islamabad United in a previous match showcased his immense talent, where he single-handedly carried the innings with an unbeaten 111 runs. However, in the recent encounter, it was Alex Hales’ brilliance in the field that led to Babar’s early dismissal in the very first over.

Despite his outstanding performance in this year’s PSL, where he emerged as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 330 runs, Babar’s runout halted his momentum and contributed to Peshawar Zalmi’s collapse. Losing five wickets in the powerplay after his dismissal, Zalmi struggled to recover, and Islamabad United capitalized on their advantage, securing a crucial victory as wickets continued to tumble for Zalmi.
