Rain Expected to Bring Relief from Hot Spell in Rawalpindi and Islamabad

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast scattered rains for Rawalpindi and Islamabad in the coming days, providing much-needed relief from the recent hot and humid weather.

According to the synoptic situation, most parts of Pakistan are currently experiencing continental air. Additionally, a shallow westerly wave is present over the upper regions of the country. These weather conditions are expected to bring hot and humid weather to most areas on Sunday night and for the following two days.

However, the PMD predicts rain-thunderstorm activity at isolated locations in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region, Islamabad, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan during this period.

In Rawalpindi, partly cloudy weather and isolated rain are expected, with maximum temperatures ranging between 34°C to 36°C on Monday and Tuesday. In Islamabad, residents can anticipate partly cloudy weather with light rain and maximum temperatures ranging from 35°C to 37°C on Monday and 34°C to 36°C on Tuesday.

On Sunday, most parts of the country experienced hot and humid weather, although isolated rain was recorded in some areas, providing some respite.

Rainfall was recorded in various regions, including:

– Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Saidu Sharif (12mm), Cherat, Kakul (8mm), Malam Jabba, Pattan (4mm), Dir (Lower 3mm, Upper 1mm), Balakot (2mm)

– Kashmir: Muzaffarabad (City 18mm, Airport 11mm)

– Balochistan: Khuzdar (10mm)

– Gilgit-Baltistan: Astore (9mm), Gilgit, Bunji (2mm), Skardu (1mm)

Dalbandin experienced the highest temperature in the country, soaring to 44°C. In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature reached 35°C, with an evening relative humidity of 46%. In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C, with an evening relative humidity of 58%.

The expected rain in Rawalpindi and Islamabad is a welcome change for residents, offering relief from the recent heat and humidity.
