Babar Azam’s father, Azam Siddique, has come out in defense of his son after the former Pakistan captain was excluded from the national squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. Responding to criticism from former cricketers, Siddique took to Instagram to highlight Babar’s achievements, including his inclusion in the ICC T20I Team of the Year, despite being left out of the squad.
Siddique expressed confidence in Babar’s ability to bounce back through strong performances in domestic cricket, including the National T20 and Pakistan Super League (PSL). He urged former players to be cautious with their words, warning them that they might not handle a response well if someone decided to reply to their critiques.

“You are part of the past and will not play again,” Siddique wrote, urging critics to reflect on their own careers before passing judgment on current players. He also defended his vocal support, describing himself as Babar’s first coach and mentor, asserting his right to stand by his son.
Siddique encouraged cricket fans to review the past performances of those criticizing Babar, advising them to check records on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) website for perspective.
