The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly eyeing former Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi for a significant role in the management of women’s cricket, following the resignation of Tania Malik.
Sources indicate that Shehrbano, who serves in the Police Services of Pakistan, is a strong candidate for the position as PCB seeks to fill the vacancy left by Malik, who stepped down in October 2021.

Shehrbano gained notable attention earlier this year for her heroic intervention in a violent incident at Lahore’s Ichhra Bazaar, where she rescued a woman from an attack. This act of bravery brought her into the national spotlight, showcasing her commitment to public service.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who was interim Chief Minister of Punjab during Shehrbano’s public service efforts, is reportedly backing her candidacy based on her impressive record.
The PCB is actively searching for a replacement for Malik, who had been leading women’s cricket since her appointment at Gaddafi Stadium in October 2021.
In related news, PCB announced that PSL Director Sohaib Sheikh and Tania Malik have resigned from their roles to pursue new career opportunities. Sohaib Sheikh had rejoined the PCB 13 months ago after previously working with the organization from 2016 to 2019, while Malik played a pivotal role in promoting women’s cricket in Pakistan.
PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer expressed gratitude for their contributions, stating, “Sohaib and Tania were key members of the PCB management team, making meaningful contributions to our progress. We appreciate their hard work and wish them every success in their future endeavors.”
