Pakistan cricketer Fakhar Zaman has addressed the controversy surrounding a tweet he posted in October supporting Babar Azam’s inclusion in the team. The tweet, which expressed Fakhar’s disappointment over Babar’s exclusion from the last two Tests during Pakistan’s series against England, led to significant backlash. Fakhar’s support for Babar came after media discussions calling for Babar’s removal from the squad due to poor performances.
Following the post, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a show-cause notice to Fakhar and removed him from the central contracts list. His exclusion from the upcoming tours to Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa was also announced, with the PCB attributing the decision to fitness concerns. However, many speculated that the real reason behind Fakhar’s exclusion was his support for Babar.

In a recent interview, Fakhar explained that his tweet was never meant to criticize the PCB’s decision. He clarified that the tweet was aimed at journalists and former players who were advocating for Babar’s removal from the squad, which he felt was unjust. Fakhar also mentioned that he posted the tweet before the official team announcement and would have refrained from doing so afterward.
Regarding his fitness issues, Fakhar revealed that he had requested a two-month rest from the PCB due to health concerns, later discovering he had Hyperthyroidism. He expressed relief that he did not travel with the team, as his condition would have affected his performance.
