Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the remaining matches of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 season. He suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain during a recent match between the San Francisco Unicorns and the Texas Super Kings.
Following the injury, Haris Rauf underwent an MRI scan, which confirmed the extent of the damage. As a result, he will miss the upcoming MLC 2025 playoffs, scheduled to begin on 8 July in Grand Prairie, Texas.
At the time of his injury, Haris Rauf was leading the wicket charts with 17 wickets in just 8 matches. His performance played a crucial role in the Unicorns’ strong run in the tournament.
To replace him, the San Francisco Unicorns have signed New Zealand’s left-arm pacer Ben Lister. Lister has played 12 T20 internationals and has already started training with the team. He is expected to join the playing XI for the final league match against the LA Knight Riders on 6 July.
Despite Lister’s experience, the absence of Haris Rauf will be a major blow to the Unicorns’ bowling strength as they enter the knockout stage.
There is also uncertainty surrounding Rauf’s availability for Pakistan’s upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. The three-match series starts on 20 July, with the team set to begin preparations in Karachi from 8 July.
Team insiders suggest that Haris Rauf is unlikely to regain fitness in time. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not made any official comment on the matter.
Medical staff continue to monitor his recovery, and a final decision will be made closer to the series. If Rauf remains unfit, selectors are expected to announce a replacement after reviewing medical updates.
This injury marks a setback for Pakistan, as Rauf had been in excellent form and was expected to lead the pace attack in Bangladesh.
