Saim Ayub Nominated for ICC Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2024

Pakistan’s rising star, Saim Ayub, has earned a nomination for the prestigious ICC Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2024 award. The explosive opening batter, known for his aggressive batting, has been in exceptional form throughout the year, making an indelible mark on international cricket.

Ayub’s remarkable performances include 1,254 runs in 41 innings, with three centuries and a half-century in just nine One-Day International (ODI) matches. His consistent form has seen him rise 57 spots in the ICC rankings, reaching 23rd position with 603 points. Notably, Ayub was named Player of the Series during Pakistan’s 3-0 victory over South Africa.

He faces strong competition from three other outstanding young cricketers: England’s Gus Atkinson, who took 52 wickets in 11 matches; Shamar Joseph of the West Indies, who claimed 29 wickets in 8 Test matches; and Kamindu Mendis of Sri Lanka, who scored 1,451 runs in 32 matches.

The final winners of the ICC awards will be announced in January 2025.
