Bayer Leverkusen Confirm Loan Deal for Echeverri

Echeverri to Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen have officially signed young Argentine midfielder Claudio Echeverri on a season-long loan from Manchester City. The deal does not include a purchase option, meaning he will return to City after the 2025–26 season.

Echeverri’s move to Bayer Leverkusen comes after strong interest from other clubs. Leverkusen acted quickly to secure the agreement and are covering the player’s full salary for the season.

The 19-year-old is expected to undergo his medical in the coming days. Once completed, he will join training with the first team under manager Erik ten Hag.

Echeverri joined Manchester City in early 2024 after impressing at River Plate. He returned to Argentina on loan before linking up with City again this summer. Although he has limited first-team experience, he made his senior debut in the FA Cup final and scored during the Club World Cup.

Bayer Leverkusen see Echeverri as a long-term talent who can grow with regular minutes in the Bundesliga. His playing style fits the system Ten Hag wants to build at the club.

This loan move is also seen as part of Manchester City’s plan to develop the midfielder through top-level experience in Europe. The Bundesliga is expected to test and improve his physical and tactical skills.

With the new season just starting, Bayer Leverkusen will hope Echeverri can make an early impact. The club remains active in the market but sees this signing as one of their key additions for the year.
