Jaker Ali played a key role in helping Bangladesh post 133 runs against Pakistan in the second T20I match on Tuesday. His well-paced half-century proved crucial in the team’s eight-run win, which also sealed their first-ever T20I series victory against Pakistan.
Sent in to bat first, Bangladesh struggled early on. They lost four wickets for just 28 runs in the powerplay. But Jaker Ali stepped up when it mattered most. He struck a steady 55 off 48 balls, hitting five sixes and a boundary. His calm approach helped the team recover after a poor start.
Jaker Ali built a 53-run partnership with Mahedi Hasan for the fifth wicket. Mahedi also made a valuable contribution with a quick 33 off 25 balls, including two sixes and two boundaries. Together, they lifted Bangladesh to a fighting total of 133 runs in 20 overs.
For Pakistan, Salman Mirza was the most economical bowler, taking 2 wickets for just 17 runs. Ahmed Daniyal, who was making his T20I debut, also impressed with 2 wickets for 23 runs.
In reply, Pakistan had a nightmare start. They lost five wickets for only 15 runs by the fifth over. Shoriful Islam was the standout bowler, picking up 3 wickets for 17 runs, his best figures in T20 internationals.
Despite the collapse, Faheem Ashraf gave Pakistan a glimmer of hope. He smashed 51 off 32 balls, including four sixes and four boundaries. His aggressive knock helped Pakistan bounce back from 47-7.
Ashraf and Abbas Afridi built a crucial 41-run partnership. Afridi scored 19 off 13 balls, keeping the chase alive. But Bangladesh kept their cool. Spinner Rishad Hossain bowled Ashraf in the second-last over. In the final over, debutant Ahmed Daniyal was dismissed after scoring 17 off 11 balls, ending Pakistan’s innings at 125.
With this win, Bangladesh secured the series 2-0. It was their first T20I series win over Pakistan after four attempts. The final match of the series will be played on Thursday in Dhaka.
