As Bangladesh prepares for the first Test against Pakistan, they’ve been hit hard by the news that key batter Mahmudul Hasan Joy has been ruled out of the two-match series. Reports indicate that Joy suffered a groin injury during fielding and couldn’t participate in the second innings of the four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens in Islamabad.
The 23-year-old batter had been in promising form, having scored 65 runs in the first innings against the Shaheens. His recent performances in the High-Performance Unit’s four-day matches, where he scored 69 and 65 runs, showed he was in good shape for the upcoming series.

BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury confirmed to Cricbuzz that they received an email regarding Mahmudul’s injury to his right groin, and as a result, he will be resting for three weeks. This injury comes as a significant setback for Bangladesh, especially as the Test matches are part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25.
The first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh is scheduled for August 21 in Islamabad, with both teams eager to perform well and improve their standings on the WTC points table.
