Newcastle United have run into a major issue in their attempt to sign Brentford striker Yoane Wissa. Their latest bid, reportedly around £35–40 million, has been rejected by Brentford. The club is not willing to sell unless they receive a much higher offer.
Wissa, who has just one year left on his contract, is keen to move this summer. He has shown signs of frustration by deleting Brentford-related content from his social media. He has also been absent from training, which has raised speculation about his future.
The striker is said to be interested in joining Newcastle, especially with the opportunity to play in European competitions. However, Brentford are holding firm. They want a fee in the region of £50–60 million before considering a sale.
So far, Newcastle have not matched that valuation. Time is running out as the transfer window nears its final weeks. The Magpies are also facing uncertainty over the future of their current striker, Alexander Isak, which adds more urgency to the situation.
Wissa is known for his pace, strength, and eye for goal. He scored key goals for Brentford last season and has become one of their standout players. Losing him without a proper replacement would be a big risk.
For now, the deal remains stuck. Unless Newcastle raise their offer or Brentford lower their demands, a transfer is unlikely to happen soon.
