Pakistan has once again been awarded the hosting rights for an International Cricket Council (ICC) event, marking a significant achievement for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The decision comes after India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, leading to financial setbacks for the country. Following negotiations, the ICC granted Pakistan the opportunity to host another event as compensation.
At a recent PCB Governing Board meeting, chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, it was revealed that discussions with the ICC and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had reached a conclusion. While the final agreements are still being formalized, it is expected that the schedule for the Champions Trophy will be announced soon.

In a gesture of goodwill, Pakistan declined monetary compensation for India’s decision not to tour. Instead, both nations agreed to a model where neither team will travel to the other’s country for ICC events over the next three years. This arrangement allows both boards to avoid the financial implications while maintaining national dignity.
Additionally, Pakistan has been awarded the hosting rights for a Women’s Tournament in 2028, further solidifying its standing on the global cricketing stage. The ICC has also assured the PCB that another event will be hosted in Pakistan within the next three years, addressing concerns over the financial fallout from India’s withdrawal.
This strategic move not only resolves immediate issues but also strengthens Pakistan’s position as a key host for future ICC tournaments.
