The latest Deloitte Football Money League annual report reveals that Real Madrid has regained its status as the world’s richest club. Despite Manchester City winning the prestigious treble, Real Madrid generated the highest revenue last season. The list of the 20 richest clubs in the world shows a significant increase, with clubs generating 14% more (£9 billion) than the previous season.
In the 2021-22 season, 11 English Premier League clubs made the top 20 richest clubs, but there has been a notable change this year. Only 8 Premier League teams are featured on the list, with Leeds United, Leicester City, and Everton dropping out from the previous year. Tottenham Hotspur surpassed Chelsea to become the richest club in London. Manchester United slipped to 5th place, while Liverpool’s revenue generation declined, resulting in a drop to 7th place from last year’s 3rd place.

Arsenal secured a spot in the top 10 of the richest men’s clubs, and Newcastle United and West Ham United also made it into the top 20 with revenue generation of £250 million and £239 million, respectively. These three English clubs are among the top 8 Premier League clubs on the list, which includes ‘The Big Six.’ Eintracht Frankfurt from Germany, Napoli from Italy, and Marseille from France entered the top 20 list of the world’s richest men’s clubs.
Real Madrid experienced a revenue boost of £119 million last season, bringing their total revenue to £723 million. This increase is attributed to sponsorship deals and gate receipts from a high number of fan turnouts.
In women’s football, Barcelona achieved the highest earnings and revenue generation, totaling £11.6 million last season, securing a position in the top 15 rankings of women’s football.
